Are online Lotto games safe?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

I played an online lotto game and I won a certain amount of money. In order to receive that money, I have to enter my credit card number and PIN code. I wonder whether this is safe, because I don’t want to be robbed.

Once you enter your credit card and Pin number you will get robbed. Its an old scam, I receive many mails like that just junk them and then delete them. (the mails usually contain a link to lotto sites)

i am inquiring about an online lotto from germany they want my info and i need to know if it is an?

lagitamate bank ?

This is a SCAM. Check out the below link for confirmation of several email scams including the famous Yahoo/MSN lottery scam and how to report them :
http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/lotteryscam_Sachsen.php
Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Just remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

If you win the CA lotto and pick the annuity, can your children inherit the remaining winnings if you die?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Which is better, picking the annuity (26 annual payments) or the lump sum? If you pick the annuity, can you assign beneficiaries (husband, wife, children, etc) such that they can inherit the remaining lotto winnings payments that haven’t been issued yet should you die before the 26 years is over? I’m more curious about California lotto rules (Super Lotto or Mega). Thanks!

You probably have to will it to them. Annuity payments should be guaranteed money. Its not a "win for life" agreement. You won "X" amount of dollars and it is just for the state’s convienence for them to pay you out in installments. They money is yours, even if you are dead so the next person in line to accept your estate is the one who should get the money.

How much taxes will be taken out of $888 dollar lotto ticket in NY state?

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Ok, I just won $888 dollars on the New York lotto "Straight Eights" scratchoff game. I am wondering about how much to expect be taken out in taxes. Also, I am wondering if I’m better off giving them my social security # and claiming the taxes on income tax or just having them take the taxes out right there.

The Lottery is required to report and withhold taxes according to the regulations of the Internal Revenue Service and the New York State Department of Tax and Finance.

The current tax withholding rates are:
Required Federal withholding 25%
Federal backup withholding 28%

Federal Non-resident Alien withholding 30%
New York State withholding 6.85%
New York City withholding 3.648%
Yonkers withholding .685%

Legislation was passed that requires the New York Lottery to withhold New York State taxes from taxable prizes over $5,000, regardless of the winner’s place of residence. This law became effective October 1, 2000 and can be viewed at www.tax.state.ny.us By law, the New York Lottery is required to withhold past-due child support and prior public assistance received from any Lottery prize of $600 or more.

is it really possible to be rich from online free lotto?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Once when I was surfing I saw a message saying that I have won a prize from free lotto. I dont remember the exac amount now but was more than 1000 dollars I think. I registered the web site gave my information and recieved lots of emails from them claiming that I was the winner. I didnt believe it thounght it was a spam and erased it.My questions is that: Are they really real? Do they really pay you the prizes? And send it to Europe? I read some of the terms and conditions a few mins ago and it sounded quite real to me. Could any of you claimed a prize from these kind of free lotto companies? or do you know any one how is paid by it? Are they really real or they are just spam? Need your help, many thanks

No, I don’t think you can get rich this way. I used to play for free and won $1 one time, they ask me if I would give it to charity so they would not have to send me a $1 check – I said "No", send me my dollar ( just to see if they would send it) and they did, a one dollar check. After that they really want to charge you a monthly fee even though they call it Freelotto.

I would only play the state lotteries if I were you.

Yes, it depends on how many tickets you submit. The more tickets you submit, the more chance you get the free bonus.

It’s hard to hit the jackpot. You can submit up to 50 tickets per week.
